Compassion International Visit

Yesterday we enjoyed interacting with a North American team from Compassion International.

For 40 years Compassion has partnered with the Fauche Wesleyan School to provide the local children with a strong Christian education focusing on four areas: intellectual, spiritual, physical, social/emotional.

Two of Fauche's school directors were themselves Compassion children.

The team arrived shortly after 10 a.m. and after a short break at the House of Hope.

A couple of the local leaders gave short welcoming speeches as well as giving us a couple minutes to introduce our family.

Two of the team leaders remembered us from trips to LaGonave in the early 2000's.

Then headed down to the church for a program.

Then enjoyed a wonderful Haitian lunch at the HOH before dividing into three groups.

The groups then received tours of the school project offices, the child survivor program and the clinic/hospital.

Following this each team visited one of the Compassion student's homes. I tagged along.

After another short break the team prayed for the staff and our family and said their good-byes.

Enjoyable as always to watch the school children interact with the visitors who make their education possible.

The band greeted the team and played during lunch, after which they were able to eat as well.

A few of the team played the students in a game of volleyball not expected the level of play that our students have reached [John Pierre's oldest daughter made an international team and if her visa comes through will be playing in the Virgin Islands this month].

As you may remember our teams came in second in an all country competition last year.

The Haitian staff prays one day a week for all the wonderful people who are supporting the sponsored Fauche children [over 200 in our school].

Without the many years of Compassion's work in Haiti we believe know that Haiti would be worse off than it is today as many leaders in the churches, education and medical fields were sponsored children.

Nice! Sounds like a good day. Is it MahdJenny or Katia (I think that is her name) that is oldest? How exciting for her. I hope her Visa comes through!
Praying for you and the rest of the fam.

Hi there! I am currently with an organization working on WASH at schools in Plaisance. During several of our community surveys, we learned that the Wesleyan school here has been handing out filtration units. The Catholic group that is sponsoring us has had a similar water project here for a while now and I was wondering if I can connect the two groups to help facilitate communication as you are tackling the same problem in the same part of Haiti. You can reach me at rowen.jin@worldwaterrelief.org. Looking forward to hearing from you!

"We just got off the phone with Kris and they have lost their Internet service and Cory has parts coming in next week that will hopefully fix the problem. Kris asked if you could leave a comment on their blog...Thedes can't write their blog, receive any email etc. until this problem is fixed."
