Rocket Saturday

Years ago Eli's grandparents sent him a rocket set thought the mail. We were amazed that it arrived. Because we lived in the middle of town we didn't feel like it was a good idea to shoot it off. So when we moved North the box moved too.

Today was the day. A small crowd from the compound gathered. There was no wind. Excitement echoed in the questions. Would it work? How high would it go? Would it end up in a tree?

Well the rocket did successfully launch not once but twice. Cory guesses about 700 feet high. The first one landed across a small ravine and Cory had to cross into a pasture to fetch it back.

The second one landed in a tree. A small mango tree so it was able to be retrieved. Eli thought it was a good experiment. The kids were surprised by the strange smell.

We have had a good week of school. Today we will be packing up for the trip to Port-au-Prince. We will be leaving about 4 am on Monday and hope to be back home Saturday afternoon.

Thanks to those who responded with E-mail and comments about this blog. I am not planning on blogging this coming week as it is doubtful we will have E-mail access. So take this time to think about suggestions for the blog.

We really enjoy checking in with your blog because it helps us to see what life in Haiti is like and what we will be experiencing. Thanks for showing us things about the work, the challenges, and how your family is doing with things. I think it will help us to make the transition to Haiti smoothly.
