A bit messy turning the oxen around at the edge of soybean field |
After a wonderful night's sleep we prepared for church after a breakfast of sweet rolls.
We are staying in a large guest house. You walk into the living room / dinning room that has 14 chairs and room for more. The living room area consists of two comfortable large couches and a small table.
Hearing the dreams and projects of the agriculture teacher |
The kitchen is also spacious.
Three bedrooms: 1 with a bunk bed where Fritz is sleeping. A queen and single in the room where we are sleeping in, and the third has 2 bunkbeds and a single. All boast large closet areas.
Part of primary school area |
This part of campus contains the staff housing, Bible school, single guys dorm in addition to the guest house.
Sunday we were picked up and driven to church by Samson, the Bible schools business manager.
Just down the road, passing fields of corn, soybeans, and sunflowers is the second area of buildings.
Married student housing |
We enjoyed the church service very much. It was the Sunday for the children to lead, special music, stories, worship. We were introduced and shared greetings.
A young man preached on Jesus healing the blind man.
Hospital area |
We took a walk in the afternoon and our new friend Samson joined us showing us many gardens, the area where the married students and women live; and Roy's garden where Roy joined us.
Monday morning we took a 3 hour walking tour with Benson covering: dreams of land not yet being used [University of Agriculture, Education; nursing/midwifery; improved Bible college]; the small Hero's cemetery; a high school of 575 students [some board so there are also dorms for men and women]; a thorough tour of the clinic / hospital [included some of the challenges they face]; elementary school, agricultural garden tour with one of the ag. professors-heard about his projects and dreams.
Corn, ground nut (African peanut), sweet potato and common bean |
Back to the guest house-talked with 2 of the leaders who moved our time to talk to students to Tuesday afternoon as the students had been weeding gardens in the morning and we had walked a lot so they wanted everyone well rested.
Agriculture talk |
Reading, computer time, speech preparation....good local cooking: corn meal with chicken and pumpkin greens, rice, and fresh corn on the cob.
Devotions and health talk |
