Under a week to go...

Every day fills up with a multitude of small things, small steps drawing us closer to leaving for Africa as well as completing 5th grade.

As with any trip to a new area, especially a long, international, equator crossing, 3 month journey into many unknowns, the accompanying feelings are big and mixed.

This week we completed 5 full school days even though  on Tuesday we traveled to Holland for several appointments and some shopping.

We picked up my new prescription sunglasses. Because we left for just a month and were coming to the USA I did not pack my spare glasses however I want to see everything I can in Africa and so decided by getting sun-glasses I can wear them when needed and they can be my spare incase I would happen to break my normal pair.

We picked up my new prescription sunglasses; important permission papers notarized 'just in case'; medications purchased; January thank-you letters ready to mail; luggage 90% packed; office/ financial paperwork done, several zoom meetings, and organization of the apartment coming together as well this week.

While we enjoyed some sun this week in Michigan, it has been cold!

Fritzlin enjoyed some snow time this week.

Fritz and I both plan on journaling during the trip.

Thank you for all who continue to read the blog, taking interest in our ministry and family going-ons, even after months of unknowns and limbo (which also had me me struggling to write the blog).

With so many new experiences in our near future I'm looking forward to blogging and recording this adventure.

Thank you for those who not only read the bog but also partner and support us in prayer!

Our newly improved and acquired communications skills will be put to the test, I'm sure.

We dusted off our packing skills as our flight from Joburg [short for Johannesburg] to eSwatini will be on a smaller plane with a smaller baggage allowance.

Before we get to that flight we first will hop from Grand Rapids to D.C and then on to New Jersey before the 14 1/2 hours to Africa and then some time to rest up with a 15 1/2 hour lay-over in Joburg.

Kindles will be loaded with new games and books this week to help entertain us during travel time.

We will spend some extra time with family before leaving, while being careful not to expose ourselves to Covid as we will need to be tested before our big trip.
