Preparation time...

Mosquito at travel vaccine ofice

A grey wintery Michigan Saturday here outside the window, with summer clothes spread out across the living room as we pack for Africa.

The last time I packed to visit a new country was over 27 years ago between medical school and starting residency. The trip to Brazil resulted in Cory's and my engagement.

The shopping list looked a bit different this trip because when we left Haiti way back the end of June we expected to return a month later...

We spent 3 days this past week hanging out at the Shunem house with our Haiti missionary team [minus Dr. Janice] and some of our Global Partners team.

So good to reconnect with them, praying and laughing together in person!

Some serious business occurred too.

Fritz and Mary Beth, who works with our GP missionary kids, hung out during that part.

Fun competition exercising our brains

We're very grateful to The Tabernacle Church in Michigan who love Haiti and supported the team by covering expenses.

During this time we received permission to purchase tickets for our 3 month short term reassignment to  southern Africa.

So for those who like more frequent updates on our ministry and life...I'll try to do my best to keep you up-to-date on our new adventure.

Next week will include: further preparation for the trip, school, a few appointments, and trying to stay healthy so we can travel early February.
