Michigan time...

Coal seam by a Kentucky rest area

After our days of retreat we packed the vehicle on Thursday night.

We hit the road just after 3:30 a.m. on Friday, heading north.

Years ago we started a family tradition that each new State or country our children visited they would get a cloth patch, like a flag.

Fritz added to his collection: he'd already earned Georgia and South Carolina on this trip but Friday he gained North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.

We also stopped for brunch which allowed Fritz to experience a Waffle House.

We made it into Michigan at 6 p.m, stopping to pick up the pizza that Kris' folks, Eli, and Anna had ordered. Wonderful to be all together again.

Saturday we joined Kris' Dad's family reunion at the lake. Great to catch up with many family members all in one location.

Anna's boyfriend Philip, and Amy her roommate also joined us.

Food, fun, fellowship and a pontoon ride at dusk watching fireworks made for a wonderful day.

Sunday we enjoyed the service at Kris' brother's church for the 4th of July.

Monday we spent: unpacking, working on newsletters and thank you letters; office work; and thinking about our weeks in Michigan.
