There is so much beauty in this place..the mountains stretching to the sky, the old fort and coffee plantation buildings that make one's mind just reel as to how they were constructed over 200 years ago...what the people were like who lived here then.
But life here is also filled with many challenges.
The house that Kris and Cory are building..it is amazing to think of the rocks, cement, lumber, tin that was all needed and brought to the house site.
Some water even today, needed for plastering work comes from a community pond...over a mile and is transported in 5 gallon buckets on workers heads over up and down stoney paths.
And what can be said about the road up to this place...rough, stoney, slow...words escape me.
The reason seems clearer to me every day...because every day I see more people who live in these mountains.
People with little access to learning about agriculture, medical education and most importantly..knowing they have a heavenly Father Who not only knows about them, but loves them.
Perhaps it is the season of the year..
Christmas when I think of what LOVE it took for God to send his Son to earth in the form of a human baby to save you and me..that makes the effort to reach many people here who do not know Him worth any amount of time, effort, money, personal sacrifice.
A challenge...YES..to build a mission and live here..more than most of you can imagine. Worthwhile..without a doubt.
