Caution. Rough School Days Ahead!

Today's a taste of the days ahead when we will need to push harder, focus on the end goal and yes some days just grit our teeth.

Today the sounds surrounding the house did not consist of classes of students learning their lessons in harmonious voices united together memorizing the needed lessons but the happy yells of children at play.

Today and tomorrow, Haitian students and teachers enjoy extra school free days of a long holiday weekend, while Eli, Anna and I do our best to ignore the bouncing of balls and sounds of freedom.

Posed for the blog picture.
Yes, we could take off a couple of days but our eyes remain fixed on our goal. A goal that will take a strong conviction to be reached when day after day the heat index climbs into the triple digests and our concentration feels like it is oozing out of our pores along with the sweat that drips off our bodies in the tropical heat of summer.

Anna's real picture.
Together we will ignore the requests to come and play when the Haitian kids finish up their school year. We will encourage one another to rejoice with others, as news of vacations filter our way from family, friends and home-school forums--knowing our day will come with the cooler winds of fall.

Plans continue to come together and each day brings us one day closer to purchasing tickets for a fall trip to the USA. Once those tickets with our names on them exist the formal count down will begin.

A second wind of motivation will fill our scholarly sails as we look forward to finishing our school year in September and enjoying a couple months of 'informal learning' during our trip to the USA. [Tomorrow we will start week 22 of our 36 week school year.]

Past attempts at continuing with our school year in the proved that we fail dismally. Therefore we will press on through the hot days of summer.

Hopefully you'll forgive us if this fall you see a small twinkle of pleasure in our eyes as we fill our days with library visits, educational television, family, trips to PA, NY, WI, IN, hunting and more while other children head daily to school.
