7 June Rainy Days

Today the torrential rain started earlier than normal-a couple inches in a couple of hours. I slogged my way back down to clinic to check labs and hand out prescriptions. Now the late sun shines on the green hills and children's voices ring out across the campus.

Yesterday the rains came later-about 5 p.m. thankfully as over 200 kids crammed into a school classroom for the Sunday afternoon Kid's Club. A gift of appreciation required the presence of our whole family. The whole group sang praise songs, watched a short video, and enjoyed special music, recited verses or jokes by the brave few.

The children standing with our family celebrated birthdays and received gifts. Everyone enjoyed popcorn and treats.

Today in clinic I examined one adult followed by several cute kids. One little two year old only weighted a bit over 7 kg or 14 pounds. Her mother is small as well. We discussed a better diet-cutting out the pop, cheese puffs and cookies. Every kid happily accepted a small Creole booklet for children.

Cory will travel to Cap Haitian tomorrow for shopping and picking up cargo. We pray the heavy rains will hold off until after his return. With over 4 inches in 2 days-we don't need the rain.

Thank you to those who take the time to comment on my blogs. It helps me feel that the 'connection' works and encourages me.

However please write in English as I'm not comfortable with comments that I cannot understand and will delete them. Thank you.

Popcorn looks good and I'm devastated that pop, cheese puffs and candy isn't part of a healthy diet :)
