Sept. 22

Happy Autumn to those in the States. We have started another week of school. We are thankful for lots of good books. We are getting into the rhythm of school.

Cory plans on going to Cap Haitian tomorrow to pick up mail, try to get the kids SAT results from last spring and get a visa to visit the Dominican Republic next week with Pastor Denord. He has talked about this trip since we moved to the north-to go and look at what trees and plants are available. Now with the road to Port-au-Prince being blocked he will also be looking for supplies for the November team.

Cory has been able to plant more trees, get the garden back into shape and work with Gener this past week. They will also be collecting any green leaves from the tree cutting that were not used to make charcoal. These leaves will be turned into mulch which will in turn help the soil fertility.

I sent an E-mail to Pastor Dan this week listing the storm damage in the North. Over 450 were severely affected, 7 churches had damage. But thankfully I noted that there wasn't any mention of loss of life. Prayers in church continue to be for the many needs of the flood victims, food, water, medications and housing. The prayers also noted that many have no money for school which is to start the first week of October.
