April Rains- 17th

Hurray the rains have started both on LaGonave and here in the North.

With the current food prices being such a problem gardens are very important.
Also Kris was reminded with her medical education homework how much calcium growing kids need. Here are our growing kids with Eli's growing Moringa tree. Milk powder is expensive and 1 cup of Moringa fresh has more than 2.5 times the calcium of a cup of milk.

We enjoyed our first fresh Moringa for supper a few nights ago. Cory is planning on starting a few hundred trees for the school kids to take home on Arbor Day.

The last two nights and all day yesterday we had showers on and off. Nice calm ones that don't sweep away the dirt. Cory and the kids have left earlier for school because of the muddy roads.

I held class for two people this week. At this time we are focusing on the safe delivery of babies and their care. Pastor Rigo came to the house on Monday and watched a video drama about a church in Africa and AIDS. The video has been dubbed into Creole. We are planning on sending two people to training next month in Cap so that we can start showing this film to the young people in the churches.

The kids both have colds but have been able to go to school and take their SAT's. One of Anna's classmates had a hard time yesterday understanding that the teacher couldn't help him on a question.

Cory is experimenting with roasting coco beans but Anna likes them straight. Yesterday Cory put some in the oven and must of had the temperature a bit to high because it sounded like pop-corn going off in the oven and he had to fish a few out of the bottom where they had popped.
