Thanks to everyone who prays for us daily. Sometimes situations come up too fast to ask for specific prayers-but the Lord is with us and watching us.
On the evening of Sept. 10 I was hanging up some damp laundry in the house that hadn't finished drying on the line and Eli was studying at the dinning room table. A windy storm came up fast and Eli yelled 'The tree'.
We watched as a royal palm fell toward the house. First we found Anna who was outside playing. Then we thanked the Lord that the house wasn't hit or the satellite dish damaged-as one branch ended up by the back door.
The tree on inspection had been damaged by fire at the base. The tree just missed our clothes line. Just days before another Royal Palm had been cut down because of the nesting birds over the water well house.
This did provide the opportunity for the family to try palm heart without the guilt of killing a tree. We don't think we will be paying for expensive palm heart salads in a fancy restaurant but it was interesting. The immature leaves came off in a sheet like the old kind of computer paper.
