Sunday the 19th of September we deiced to visit a new church. Friday night there was a meeting of the Northern district pastors and we were able to meet about 25 of them.
One of the questions we were asked was when we would be visiting the churches, which would be an encouragement to them.
So as we are not yet having daily rains we decided to visit while the roads were good. Jean Pierre accompanied us to show us where to go.
We headed for the coast, past Port Margot along the river. The dirt road is smoother than the other way to Limbe. In about 25 minutes, we arrived at the Nazarath church. We were immediately seated in the second row up front, having arrived between Sunday school and church. The church was full so a few kids were displaced for our family.
We were introduced and Cory talked a bit about the family while we all stood. The pastor and Jean Pierre then both added information about our family.
The service lasted a typical 2 hours. There was a bit of a breeze so not too hot. The singing was very enthusiastic. Kris was able to follow and translate the message for Eli and Anna.
The most distracting part of the service was two video cameras filming the service. Every 10-15 minutes they would change the person filming. The new person would start filming the front row and quickly zero in on the missionary family. We got more than our share of filming time!
After service we were shown the school-the two buildings you see here. Over 450 kids attend school in these 6 rooms. They are still admitting kids for afternoon classes.
This two story project is the parsonage. The pastors family is currently living in one room downstairs. There is also an office down stairs. They are looking forward to the additional room.
We were given chairs to sit and talk a bit while waiting for our refreshments. They had sent some one out for cold pops and ice. After our short visit we headed out, along with a gentleman who needed a ride to Port Margot.
