Clinic/hospital at Fauche

Welcome the the Fauche/Port Margot Wesleyan Clinic.

This medical work was started over 50 years ago. While it was closed for a while it has now been assisting people in the area for over four years. The door to the left is where patients wait and that to the right is where your vital signs are taken: weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration. Then you are seen by a doctor or nurse if the doctor isn't available. You may be sent to the laboratory for some tests. You will have to wait until the generator is started to provide the power for the microscope and other equipment. This occurs only after all or most of the patients have been seen. [Laboratory]After your test results have been explained to you and you have a diagnoses you will take your medication prescription to the pharmacy to be filled. Currently if you don't have any money for the tests or medications then you will need to wait. Emergency cases are given credit. [Pharmacy]
Uncomplicated deliveries can be done. Two occurred last night and were handled by the nurses. There are three nurses and one Haitian doctor working at the clinic/hospital. If the mother needs any stitching she will need to wait until the morning so that there is enough light to see for the repair. Complicated cases are sent to Cap Haitian-the nearest location for an operative delivery-a one hour drive. [Delivery tables]

There are six rooms available for in-patients. There is one admitting fee that is paid up front. Medications for the patient are written on a prescription and the family is then responsible to buy the medications and give them. If it is a injection or IV the nurses will give the medications after the purchase. [Hospital room]
