The House Tour.

We live in the guest house on the Bible University campus, about one mile from the Jembo Mission station that includes: the church, district office, primary school, high school, rural health center/clinic/hospital.

A small porch contains a few plants and a couple of chairs to greet.

Walking in through the front door you enter the L shaped living/ dining room.

The corner became our school area.

Our first week of 6th grade went very well.

We are enjoying using the internet to supplement our studies with videos or books that relate to our studies.

The power goes off for a while some days and then sometimes the water.

So we're learning to make sure we have sandwich fixings or cook enough food for left-overs in case the power goes off.

We also have buckets of water waiting incase we need water before it turns back on.

The rock fireplace with mahogany mantel helps me to not miss my Délice rock wall/mantel quite so much.

The kitchen window faces south west and the back yard full of trees.

Cory is looking forward to mango season.

He fixed the light above the table this week so we no longer need to race the sunset for supper.

The back door leads to a small utility room that houses the washing machine and a spare stove which we don't know if it works and we don't have propane yet.

The large white doors open to a very deep storage area.

The largest built-in cupboards are divided between kitchen and shop items.

The right door covers tools and shop items.

The left door hides more kitchen and pantry storage.

This took a while to clean!

Cory shopped for additional tools as many of the basics were not to be found.

The small shelf above the filtered water containers is our recharge center for Kindles, phones, and where 110V things can be plugged in.

Most of the house is wired to 220 so then converters are needed for things that require 110V power.

Our current stove may need repair so we're currently using the two burner electric stove sitting on it.

The refrigerator is the largest we've had so far in our marriage!

Microwave, toaster, and an electric kettle live in the corner.

Lots of storage room and most of the kitchen supplies one could need were already here.

We added a few towels, hot pads, knives, and small things.

Three bedrooms and the bathrooms are found down a small hallway.

Fritz's room comes first on the left.

Yes, he cleaned up the Legos off the floor and straighten his room for the photo!

One of the best parts of this house comes in the afternoons when children's voices and laughter fill the air from the front yard.

Fritz already knows a handful of their names.

He also points out animals and birds: a hare, long tailed mongoose in the back yard, a small snake basking near the front door, a pair of hornbills high up in the tree....

At the end of the hall one finds a large bedroom and one for guests, both with lots of storage!

Yes, we do have a single bed instead of a head-board.

Cory's feet were hanging off the end of the bed so we 'degajed' or "made due" with what was available, and thinking outside the box came up with a workable solution.

We moved the bunk beds from the room that we're now using in to the front bedroom.

One of our couches also pulls out into a bed, and the other is very comfortable.

So we can host a number of visitors at once.

Who will be first?

How often will visitors come?

How long will they stay?

Nationals or international ?

Only time will tell!

Hoping to get the cracks in the walls sealed up before rainy season in a couple of months and then we'll decide about painting.

When Cory gets replacement screen and tools will be working on door and window screens.

A few other things on the to-do list include: getting the stove functional, a few doors to close better; putting up mosqutoe nets before rainy season; getting the garden cleaned up and functional and obtaining more house plants!

Moved the biggest philodendron from the porch into the living room.

Asked Cory to cut some starts from of crown of thorn plants found by the Bible buildings.

They already look happier following an overnight drink!

Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Let us know any questions you may have or what else you would like to tour or have us talk about.
