Unexpected opportunity and blessings.

Any time day or night the Lord brings a missionary to mind please send up a prayer.

While Anna and I finished watching the movie White Christmas on Christmas day I checked e-mails and Facebook. I saw a post from the sister of a missionary nurse we met at Easter talking about the urgent need for medical personal at The Children of the Promise [COTP] and knew I needed to go.

So within the hour we contacted the ministry, packed my bags and lined up travel. After a rough 2 hour drive we arrived at 7 a.m. and after a couple minutes of learning about the ministry Cory headed back home.

During my short stay 6-9 sick little ones needing intensive monitoring and care occupied one room. My presence helped the two full time American nurses get a bit more rest and added one more voice to the medical discussions. Some of the children had confirmed Cholera while others were isolated because of diarrhea.

Sick children not only need frequent diaper changes, bottles and feeds but want to be held almost all the time! My arms still ache from holding little ones for so many hours. A minimum of 3 people were scheduled to be in the room at night but during the day at times you could find 5-6 people busy with baby care.

By Friday afternoon when I left the children were smiling more and becoming more active wanting to play. I enjoyed not only getting to know the little ones but the various team members both long term and short term.

Check out Children of the Promise I did not take the camera but a picture of me can be found on this update from the 27th.

We hope to visit again and share some fruit trees and plants. Thank you to those of you who prayed after receiving the prayer request via E-mail. For anyone who would like to be on our update list please let us know.

Oh I'm glad you will continue the contact and share plants and trees. Been thinking of you all - especially the little ones, I'm grateful they had someone to offer comfort.
