Joyeux Noël and Merry Christmas!!

Sun shines on palm fronds and mango leaves. Birds songs fill the air adding a nice backdrop to our English Christmas carols!

Anna bounces with excitement but Eli slumbers in peace not yet awake to enjoy the day.

Yesterday we spent the morning baking Christmas cookies, three kinds for our enjoyment and the enjoyment of our nearest neighbors and friends.

Carmel corn joined the treats in the afternoon and today we will package up some plates and bags and go visiting.

The wrapped gifts sit waiting to be hidden, found and enjoyed.

Years ago I learned that in the Netherlands families often hid gifts [sometimes very strange places] and started the tradition in our home

Short riddles or rhymes give the hints and each gift is opened once found.

This stretches out this part of the day and adds to our fun.

My favorite gift from last year hangs on the wall, a Jessie Tree made by a ministry that provides Muslim ladies not only a job making the trees and ornaments but teaches them the Bible stories as well!

A wonderful way to count down the days until the celebration of our Lord's birth.

We also have 12 Adornements that hang on our tree, each representing a different name and aspect of our Lord.

With the sunshine today we will be able to turn on the tree lights while celebrating the Light of the World.

A another new decoration of the season that I am enjoying this year is a second Haitian nativity.

Love to combine the major countries in my life! Love my simple Christmases in Haiti.

Last night we sang whole hearted praises to the Lord without our Haitian family.

Will read the Nativity story, think about His coming and the many blessings we enjoy because of the Lord's love for us!!

The rest of today will include some special food [ham, corn casserole, Pringles chips from the stockings, and sweets.
Hope to connect with family by computer as well.  Family memories past, present and those to come.

Merry CHRISTMAS.
