17 January 2011

Second Monday back home-a day that fell into a familiar, comfortable rhythm.

School-overall a wonderful day. Moving smoothly from one subject to the next, sharing with Eli and Anna a nice learning experience. When I went to clinic Cory stepped in and helped out. At the end of the day a respectable amount of work completed without one melt down.

Clinic-a few minutes only and my work space again resumed it's pre-travel efficiency. I met and consulted 7 new patients to the clinic. Each with a minor illness that I thankfully could prescribe medications for to help elevate the presenting symptoms.

I even pulled out the health book to advise a young mom on the treatment for scabies. Nice to have the explanation in simple Creole at my fingertips-if I do say so myself.

The health book is now in the hands of our medical staff and two took the time to stop by my room and thank me. Always nice to be thanked. I did remind them that God deserves the gratitude for making the book possible [He both inspired the work, provided the people to make it happen and funds to help with the printing.]

I stopped in at the Cholera center as I wished to learn what the protocol they used to treat patients was like. But alas the weekend rains forced the folks to pick up and move on. One tent remained standing but 2 had been taken down. I questioned Pastor Rigo on whether they would be returning and he did not know yet. The peak in our area appears to have pasted and it is possible that the Department of Health will be moving the center to a different location and turning the local cases back over to us.

Please continue to pray about the election situation further complicated yesterday by the arrival of past dictator 'Baby Doc'. Some support his return while others are calling for his arrest.

Peter-since when do you speak Creole? Have you been holding out on us? Happy 2 Year Day.

It really says' That for God bless you, protect your head and work of your hands today.'

So glad that the transition back to work/home went smoothly. Have been thinking of you over the last couple of weeks.
