The Haitian government has delayed the start of school for a month but many children will not be able to return to school. Most in school with be part of a sponsored program but it is hard to learn when there is no food at home.
The economic situation also hitting the medical hospitals and clinics hard. Both the Wesleyan hospital on LaGonave and in the North are finding that people just don't have any money for medical care. So people with chronic illnesses who need to be on daily medication will skip their next appointment. Many will not have the money to pay to come to the clinic as transportation costs have also jumped due to gas being more than $12 a gallon.
They will remain at home without their blood pressure or anti-seizure medications. No pre-natal vitamins or malaria treatment until the patients situation is serious or it is to late. But could you spend money on a pill day after day while watching your children cry of hunger? Hard choices. Unavoidable choices. Please pray.

We're praying for you and the people of Haiti.
God bless you,
Penny
It breaks my heart to hear of all the damage done to Haiti by the hurricanes. I will continue to be in prayer for you guys and the other missionaries I know there as well as the people of Haiti who have lost all they have (which wasn't much to begin with). It makes me so sad that the kids can't even start school!
