July 8th

We have now been out of Haiti for a week. We have enjoyed two family reunions, gone to the library, shared with Voyage church, visited family and started our appointments.

Cory is helping mom to look into high speed Internet until that time the blog updates will be limited. Sorry to those of you who look daily but I think that dial up is just to slow for photos. Will try.

Travel to and from Haiti went OK for all who visited for the 50th. The big 50th celebration service was cut short with a thunderstorm on LaGonave on Sunday night the 29th of June. Word came that the boats would not be allowed to sail on Monday the 30th when most of us were planning to cross to the mainland of Haiti to return to the States.

There was no panic as everyone calmly accepted that nothing could be done until Monday morning. Breakfast was pushed back from 5 a.m. to 7:30. But at 5 a.m. we were told to be ready to go in 20 minutes as the boats were going to be allowed to go.

The first part of the boat trip was rough and the left side got a bit wet. Pastor Rigo had testified that earlier in his life he avoided trips to LaGonave because of his fear of the sea-but the Lord had convicted him that if God could protect him on the roads and air that he could on the sea as well.

Pastor got a bit wet but did great. I commented to Cory while Pastor was getting soaked how glad I was to see that he was a good sport about the sea. Cory responded "He would have to be to work with you!" I was shocked. I had thought we had done very well with the travel, celebration and disrupted schedule. I responded strongly. I then learned that Cory really had said "He would have to be to work with YOUTH" Cory was glad we cleared up the misunderstanding.

The end of the boat trip was calm. Saw a few flying fish. Then we loaded into vechicals and headed to our destinations.
