April 29th

Well it is almost bed time but the storm is down to a light rain so thought I'd try to post.

The Moringa trees are sprouting in their plastic cups and Cory put together a handout sheet to give the kids for May 1st. Unfortunately the printer is having issues and Cory hasn't been able to get our latest computer unfrozen either. He did happily plant some new kinds of banana tree pups this week by the house and is working on another batch of coco beans.

Had a busy day in clinic yesterday with one of the doctors gone until about noon. I managed to see 18 patients in 3 hours-a new record for me for Fauche. The saddest case is an 11 year old girl the 11th child of the family who had been ill over a month.

Today I only had 3 people and the first case of chicken pox I've seen in years.

None medical people will want to skip the rest of this.

The skin of her legs was all pealing off because it had been stretched so thin with edema. She had 2+ edema at her collar bones, a belly taunt with fluid and even under her eyes was puffy. Only good thing I found was that her lungs were clear. She received Lasix, Bactrim, Chloroquine, iron, Albendazole, multi-vit., a Creole coloring book and my prayers. Today she was looking better and had dropped .4 kg but hadn't gotten any Tylenol for her 102 axillary temperature yesterday. We didn't have any pills and no one thought to giver her the liquid.

SIGH.
