Feb. 4- Carol's Post

Well, we have been here for almost a week and we are into a bit of a routine. The morning is filled with regular work, filling the water container with filter water for drinking, getting breakfast on the table for the team, and usually doing some wash. The wash is the reason I am writing the blog this morning. Kris is helping Eli with his school work, Sadie is helping Anna, Gerda is in the kitchen and I am waiting for the wash to get finished so I can put it out on the line. The wash machine is French and it takes 2 hours for a load..so it is teaching me patience. My job this morning will be to varnish the cabinet that Gene and Larry made for storage for Kris. Ron is out working on the electrical problems of this place and Gene and Larry are going to work on a door for the clinic pharmacy.
A sad event happened yesterday. When we arrived home from church, we saw a crowd at the clinic. Two children had been hit by a truck on their way home from a local Wesleyan church. They were examined here by the Haitian doctor and because of the serious nature of their injuries sent to a hospital in Cape Haiti an. For what ever reason, the children were never seen by a doctor there and both died from their injuries. The need here for a new ER unit, with xray capabilities and a new OB unit and updates of the clinic and hospital is just overwhelming. Please pray that God will supply the funds needed.
Well the clothes is washed and I am off. We are learning many lessons again in this country. Kris read on the internet this morning that food prices have gone up anywhere from 20-70% in this country since the begining of this year and we wonder how long the people will remain peaceful with these conditions.
