5 January 2008-includes prayer request

The sun is shinning, at least for the moment. We have had a few days of cold rain totalling over 4 inches. The rain was needed as we were starting to get a little dry. With temperatures dropping to the high 60's at night we have been layering on the clothes, snuggling under blankets and making hot chocolate.

The kids went to school Thursday and Friday. Cory drove them both days as the other parents were busy or still Stateside. The good news is that the road has been worked on and the large potholes filled in making the ride to school faster and smoother. Eli has met his new teacher,Mrs. Hubele who is substituting for January. She also home school's her own two children who are temporary students at Cowman as their mom continues to teach them as well as Eli's class.

Clinics have been light secondary to the holidays and wet, cool weather. I did have a few minutes of excitement on Friday when the nurse called to come 'rapid'. My guess as I hurried down the hill is that the women in labor had some kind of trouble. I was right-she was ready to deliver and the nurse noticed that the baby was breech. Praise the Lord that in a few monuments the baby girl was born and crying loudly. Always a nice sound for the delivering doctor.

There is only one patient in the hospital at this time, a 70 year old man with a stroke that has paralyzed his left side. He hasn't been able to speak since the stroke. We continue to brainstorm ideas on how to improve the functioning and effectiveness of the clinic.

Prayer request-there is a dental team that was going to see missionary families on the 14th of Jan. Our kids need to see the dentist for follow up of problems identified last year and we were hoping to get our yearly check-ups. The dentist sent his equipment on a sea container that is now being held up in customs. Please pray that this will be released early next week. Thanks.
