This week we spent 2 nights near the kid's school. This reduced our travel time -for which we were thankful. We returned home to find the rain gauge overflowing following more than 6 1/2 inches of rain in 3 days.
It takes some effort to pack up for even a three day trip and the house suffered in a state of disorder with our coming and going. Then the 'urgent' tasks that could not be done while we were gone take priority over reestablishing order. It is a daily struggle that I'm looking forward to my mom's help with. And her help will be needed as we add 6 adults to the household for meals and fellowship in a couple weeks.
The big project for the team is going to be the reestablishing order of the 'guest house'. This large building was built originally as a training center. [It is just down the hill from our house.] Most recently it has housed a Compassion program for mothers and young children and the back bedrooms were used for storage. Now the goal is to transform it into housing for teams, visitors, Haitian pastors or conference members.
A few of the jobs needing to be done include: repair of leaks in the tin roof, painting, replacing the woodwork that is riddled with termite tunnels, putting in a drop ceiling, work on the bathroom, and replacing the screens so that the mosquitoes can not enter.
