Surprize

After living in Haiti over nine years we have had the privilege of meeting a lot of nice people from the States. We find that when in the international airport, or even driving down the road, when a pale face is spotted you take a second look to see if it is someone you know. I once found my self scanning the crowd in Chicago's O'Hare airport before catching myself!

Because of our distance we haven't had a surprise visit from anyone we know because people coming to Haiti need to make travel and housing arrangements well in advance.

Last week in Port-au-Prince we stayed two nights at the CSI [Christian Service International] guest house. There was a team of people from the USA and Dominican Republic both nights. The second night a new team had come in to overnight on their way back to the USA. Imagine our surprise when going to supper to find a friend of Cory's from Michigan State University there.

JQ is a vet who lives in St. Kitt's and had come in with a group of vet students from Texas. We also knew Dr. Kelly, the vet that they had worked with down in Southern Haiti, from the ECHO conference last year. And after supper Dr. Keith Flanagan stopped in to talk and visit. He lives in PAP and we know them through the Haiti Ag. conferences and their son Brian was an ECHO intern and is working in the Central Plateau. We had fun catching up. JQ was as surprised as we were-he only knew Kelly other than us in Haiti but didn't think he would get to see us.

Thanks Lord. The timing had to be God's when you consider the many guesthouses and the many nights of the year that neither we or JQ are in PAP. A God moment.
