Another sunny, windy afternoon in Jembo.

Our first test in Tonga this morning showed us all doing well on day 8 of classes.

Thursday afternoon we walked down the road to Jembo Mission to enjoy tea and a visit with Ruth, a missionary nurse from Japan who's served in Kenya and Zambia for over three decades and will soon be returning to Japan.

We enjoyed hearing her stories and her excitement about the potential of agricultural work in this area.

We did not attend class on Friday as we traveled again to Choma to visit Immigration and shop.

A short cut allowed us to arrive in 90 minutes. Fritz's visitor visa renewal occurred quickly.

Cory and I however needed to have printed copies of the receipts proving payment and that we'd applied for the temporary work permits.
Lusaka produce is expensive but street vendor's prices
are low, looks like it would be hard for growers to
make much profit growing vegetables unless there
is low cost transport to the big city.

So we walked next door to the Wesleyan district superintendent's house where after an hour of fussing to get a printer to work, we walked out with two copies of each receipt.

Following receiving our one month visa extensions and instructions on traveling to Livingston once we receive our approvals we went shopping.

Our approval that only needs a signature was just emailed to us; we were told it would take a week or longer to receive yet here it is two days later!

We visited several agricultural stores allowing Cory to check prices and what was available. Due to the limited space in the vehicle he didn't buy much.

We enjoyed lunch, shopped for groceries, checked on Cory's international driver's license [good for 2 more months before he needs to apply for a Zambian one, after getting his visa extension] and headed back.

A couple shopping stops on the way: one for car-window vegetable shopping; one for a couple of clay cooking pots now transformed into houseplant pots.

Saturday we returned to Tonga class. Monday our teacher needed to go to Pemba regarding her teaching job and today she informed us with a big smile that she will be teaching here in Jembo this next term which will allow our Tonga classes to continue easier.

The school term starts next week so we anticipate some changes in the neighborhood.

We will also be figuring out our weekly class that we've been asked to teach at the Bible College on medicine and agriculture.

We continue to wait for final word that the paperwork on a used truck is completed so that it can be picked up in Lusaka and brought here.

This will make travel easier for us as we will not need to line up a transport.

Interestingly without any rain, many of the trees are starting to bloom and leaf out as one would expect when spring approaches but guess we were thinking that it would occur after the rains started.
