Hugs and grubs.

May rapidly draws to an end.

As we plan to write a newsletter next month I'm struggling a bit on what to blog about...the whole balance issue again.

While we like to update folks who read the blog I do not want the newsletter to be all review from them, you.

Haiti's Mother Day / Celebration of the family occurred on Sunday.

Nice decorations, a couple songs about mothers and during greeting time, lots of hugs and cheek kisses from the young people.

We celebrated at our house with hamburgers and a pie that Cory and Anna made with Barbados cherries[acerola] and mulberries. It tasted a lot like apple sauce.

Yesterday I walked down to clinic and one of the other doctors stood talking to the cleaning lady with no patients ready so I greeted them and returned home for more school.

Our French teacher canceled our class due to illness allowing still more time for school.

One project Cory did for me however.

Remember that while working on the Creole book focusing on plants I decided to add a small section on bugs.

Well while working in the garden Cory found some really big beetle larva.

Not only did he find them, he researched with me [no real advice out there about cleaning them] he washed them, he fried them and then attempted to clean them.

I'll spare you any further details.

The conclusion we came to - not enough 'flesh' to make it worth it.

It tasted to me [tiny, tiny taste] very, very earthy.

So cross that one off the list! Thanks Dear.

I've bought the fried grubs on the street here-no real flavor other than the oil. Kind of like french fries but more protein. Probably good with ketchup or "pickles" (the Haitian kind)

Fun - to see the fingers beside them.
