30 May Memorial Day in the USA

The leaves stand still in the gloomy morning light-no wind this morning.

Today the USA celebrates Memorial Day, while yesterday Haiti celebrated Mother's Day. In church all the mothers stood up while the young people shared hugs and kisses on the cheeks. I noticed one young lady crying and could not help wondering if she recently lost her mother.

During the service 2 additional groups of people stood to be recognized. The first group of 13 received baptism in the river. Unfortunately we still make mistakes in our Creole..so at 8 we waited at the church to met and then walk to the river. Assuming a late start we sat down. Only 15 minutes later when the only regular member in church left we decided to investigate. By the time we made it to the river the last person received baptism. But we made it for the one and the singing procession back to the church.

After a week of revival and special services a list of names of new believers was also shared. Five of the new Christians stood when their names were called. They will start discipleship this week. Some of the young people that attended the services also received freedom from spiritual bondage last week. We pray that their faith will grow strong and true.
