17 May

The district leaders dream of a large church filled with hundreds of men and women during conference time. The earthquake changed building recommendations in Haiti.

Every 6 th layer now needs to contain a 'belt' to strengthen the block walls. So that will be poured with cement around the r-bar. As you can imagine the cost goes up but the safety makes it worth while. We're told that the church will contain 3 belts.

Cory and Genier left about 4 a.m. for a slow ride to Port. With a couple thousand Creole health books in the back they will drive slowly to prevent bottoming out the truck. They will try to drop off some of the patient packets for distant churches at 2 locations on the way to Port.

Their plan is to drop off books at the Wesleyan boat dock for LaGonave, then drop off the books for Port and Leogone at Irvine's house. Then they plan to head back North a couple hours and overnight at a friends. After sharing plants, talking agriculture and visiting they will return home tomorrow afternoon.
