A fairly normal day-some school in the morning, laundry, cleaning up, settling in but this afternoon we purposely slowed down to remember. I read the first chapter or so from MFI's book about the earthquake to the kids and then we took a prayer walk down the street and up the hill to the cell phone tower. You can see both the Port-Margot and Limbee valleys as well as the ocean. We remembered.
Here is what I shared with my friends on the Sonlight forums..
Dearest Haiti-Remembrance Day
Today is much like any other day....much like it was a year ago but I remember rain throughout that day. Nothing made the day stand out until 4:53 p.m. when everything changed.
A year later.. over 1.3 million still without homes. Bodies still being found under the rubble. Emotions still boil and tears roll down faces while the heart races with any little shake of the ground or buildings. So much hurt and pain.
But hope remains. Some folks are better off...oh maybe not financially or in this life but they are now free from fear and live with the hope and great expectations that come from Dad and His promises for the next life.
We remember those who died. We remember how things used to be. We remember those who came to help or sent assistance. We remember the fear and the joys those days wrapped up. We remember feeling helpless but helping anyway. We remember to be thankful for family and friends. We remember to hold our possessions lightly. We remember Who is in charge..and His ways are not our ways.
Remember...

Well-written. I was glad to hear it talked about a little on the radio this morning, not just the bad, but the good also. I remember you said that in glory you want to see the moment of the earthquake and all the rejoicing that happened as so many came home to be with the Lord forever! It's such a mixture of joy and sorrow. Anyway, we are certainly thinking about and praying for you and for Haiti! God is faithful!
