June 23 Baby Packet Project

After weeks of no deliveries I was starting to think that I would have to take a couple baby packets from here to LaGonave to get a new born baby picture.

Over the years many Churches and people have sent to LaGonave plastic bags containing baby supplies. This is very useful to the new mothers-especially those who weren't expecting to have the baby when they arrived at the hospital, undiagnosed twins or poor mothers.

My mom decided this would be a good project to take on. Last year she learned to knit baby hats from her sister [Aunt Sherry] and then taught me. So together they started collecting items.

My grandmother also helped as did Anna. I think it is neat that this is a four generation project for my family [plus help from friends at church].

I think they have shipped down about 60 packets at this time. We decided to also try to raise awareness of the clinic by writing the new motto on the shirts-"We give care God Heals. Fauche Wesleyan Health Center. While there are two other health clinics in Port Margot-they do not deliver babies.

This weekend I was finally able to take some pictures. The little guy in the yellow's mom is deaf so I could only communicate with the grandmother. This is her 5th grandchild. I pray with the moms as well.

Last week we had a baby born with major congenital problems. When the nurses told me I requested that they make sure the baby received a packet. I pray that during this difficult time that the family felt the Lord's touch.
Please note that we already have enough packets for a year and shipping has to be all arranged. Please don't ship anything to us without asking first. Other projects exist if you want to help.
