With our kids getting up early for school being ready to go by 6:45 wasn't a problem. Down by the gate we loaded a band from Port Margot and Jean Pierre's family. Think we ended up with 22 people on the way to church.
Think about how you would feel after 5.5 hours in the back of this truck in the sun.
The first part of the road was familiar as we drove past the kid' school and then past the turn off of last weeks church visit. After that we were pleasantly surprised by GREAT roads and even saw a road crew. Part of the need for good roads is that this is the way to the Dominican Republic.

At one point we were stopped by a large mud blog that covered the road. Cory stopped and confirmed that it was deep-so we backed up a bit and took a detour. A detour that included the end of the runway of the Cap Haitian International Airport. A minute after we turned off the runway a plane came in for a landing. Amazingly on the return trip just seconds after we were safely off the runway another plane came in for a landing.
We were supposed to be at the church by 9:30 but at 10 we were starting to joke about going to the DR. We were very close having taken a wrong turn. The person who had directed us was teased the rest of the day-come to find out there used to be only one road and they had split it and made a new branch which is what we had followed. So we backtracked-in all having driven an extra 30 miles.
On the return trip we met a few local parades for Flag Day. We made a one block detour in Limbee to get around a band. We arrived back home at 4 p.m. Long day.

Look for the next post to tell about the church service.
