Feb. 10th

Saturday was another good day. The compound was busy as the school had a visiting Compassion team from Canada. The kids were ready about 8 a.m. and the team arrived about 9:30. One lady remembered us from a visit to LaGonave when Eli was a baby. The Haitian leaders also knew us from LaGonave and were surprised we are now in Fauche. There are over 300 school children sponsored by Compassion in the school.

The Compassion team had a good time with the kids including playing a bit of soccer and volleyball. The school had a big lunch prepared for them. Although they were on a tight schedule they were able to see the clinic and hospital.

Ron continued with the electrical training. Our battery system wasn't being charged with the goverment power so they took most of the morning hunting down the problem. They discovered that a ground wire was bad. Ron was also able to fix a fan for John Pierre.

Ron thinks that the ladder they were using should be replaced with a fiberglass extension ladder. What do you think?

Dad and Gene worked on a table for my clinic room, painted the medical cart, worked on wooden slats to go around the windows. Mom varnished the dinning room table, helped Eli with his homework and helped me look for supplies on the internet.

We continue to have great food. Haitian soup, homemade rolls, baked beans, cookies were on the menu yesterday. We were also pleasently surprised with a gift of several hands of banana's from the church we visited last week.
Gerda happily moved the spices from above the stove to her new spice cupboard.
