January 21-we had an uneventful weekend. I am trying to get over a cold and still don't have my normal energy back. The kids enjoyed additional free time as mom was resting and not up to supervising as many chores or homework as normal. Cory and the kids will spend more time driving this week as we will stay at Fauche to prepare for the team.
We have enjoyed visits from my folks every year since we moved to Haiti. Most years Gene[master carpenter] and Gerda have been able to visit as well. This year we'll get to enjoy 'extra' visitors as Ron and Sadie are coming for the first two weeks and then Pete, Suzanne, and Pastor Mark. The first two weeks are the veterans to Haiti and the second has the three newcomers.
This team has been dubbed the "Guinea Pig" team as they are our first overnight visitors/team since we have moved to the North. We admit to handpicking some of this team. We know that they will be able to look around, identify the needs, give helpful advice, and work hard. We know that daily they will work and encourage all of us here despite the setbacks and delays that are inevitable. We are especially looking forward to the laughter that comes with family and friends.

As this is the primer team there are more than the 'normal' unknowns and details to work out: transportation [cannot carry everyone and everything in the truck] meals [Gerda will help] projects, supplies, people to help out, translators..... We'd appreciate your prayers for the team members: protection with travel and health, that each will benefit from the trip in a special way, that the Lord will be glorified and His work will be done.
For those of you who enjoy the blog-the posts should increase in number. We hope that this will be an interesting way for you to follow the team and experience Haiti through their eyes. If you have a question please let us know-others are likely wondering the same thing. I plan to have some 'guest' bloggers for first hand impressions.
