Last week we had over 7 inches of rain. This weekend we had heavy rains both nights, over 2 inches each. We are thankful to be receiving government power again. Since gasoline is a little over $5 per gallon it allows us to charge our battery backup at lower cost than with our small generator.
We enjoyed two days without going anywhere. Saturday was clean up around the house, homework with Eli, and watching some videos.
Sunday we walked down the hill to attend church at Fauche. After church we enjoyed a nice meal at Pastor Emanuel's house. He speaks some English so the kids stop in occasionally to chat.
Pastor Emanuel is the pastor at the church we drove down the river to attend. He and his wife have 5 children. Their areas of study are 2 accountants, a seamstress, medical technician and a mechanic. No grandchildren as of yet.
The rain makes it hard for our wash to dry. The laundry lady washes the clothes down by the river twice a week. As she has to walk back and forth and washes by hand it takes all morning to wash the clothes. The clothes get on the line about noon. With rains coming as early as 2-3 o'clock we need to complete the drying on the line in the dining room.
Cory bought a small washing machine in Port-au-Prince on his trip. Once that is set up we will be able to get the clothes out on the line earlier. The machine will spin most of the water from the clothes which helps them dry much faster.
