The batteries are our third system-with an inverter for when the other two systems were not running.
Saturday, Cory decided to help out the church, school, and John Pierre's household by looking into why they didn't have power. He spent the morning replacing a bottleneck-small wire with a bigger wire and fixing a lot of loose connections in the church.
Well more power did go through the wire once the government power came on but there must of been more problems further down in the school because the system shorted out and burnt a long stretch of the insulation off the wire. To add insult to injury-on Saturday the guys didn't put the ladder back to where they got it. It was in view of the road and Sunday night-John Pierre heard the dogs barking and saw that somebody with a flashlight was out there. He scared them off but not before part of the wire was taken. Some they dropped on the ground. So we no longer are able to receive generator or government power in our house.
As Cory had to leave for a trip today-they tried to charge up our battery system last night with a smaller generator. Well something went wrong and not only didn't the batteries charge but the inverter fried. So no battery system.
I am posting this and checking E-mail on a small portable generator that is hooked up to the house for an hour today. Cory hopes to get the inverter looked at during his trip to Port-au-Prince tomorrow or buy a replacement.
So thank the Lord for your electricity and pray for ours. We will be reading by kerosene lamp tonight and going to be early. We are giving away or eating up the food in the freezer. Thankful for the generator!
May not be able to post blogs for those who check daily-sorry. Kris
