Trip to LaGonave- Day 1-2

We enjoyed a good trip to and from LaGonav last week to attend the first Starfysh Agricultural Conference.

On Sunday we headed down the mountain earlier than we had originally planned as there were rumors of political protests possible later in the day.

Thankfully the front tire repair after after a sharp stick punctured the sidewall the week previous held up on the very bumpy road.

We averaged just over 6 miles an hour on the mountain road.

Therefore we arrived at Ortlip in time to join our teammates who were on their way to 'Beach Church' with others just down the road.

It was nice to chat with our friends Chris and Leslie and meet some other's working in Haiti.

We even got to meet the younger sister of one of the Agape kids.

Monday morning Cory went down the road and had the tire repaired before the boat came to bring us to LaGonav.

Fritz enjoyed being able to 'captain' the boat for a bit when the waves were calm.

After lunch and learning a bit about the conference plans from Dr. Steve, the founder and director of Starfysh, we took a walk with Dr. Bob and Marcia to see some class rooms.

These Greater Good: Haiti Earthship school classrooms are made of old tires, plastic and glass bottles and other recycled items.

The round shape and thick walls will help in hurricane force winds.

On the way back we walked through the new part of the local market.

Supper, some talk preparation and then bed, as I was to speak for the first devotional time and first topic- medicinal plants.
