Happy Valentines Day

Today we made Dutch spice cookies to share tomorrow with the Agape kids, shared with Leon and Ti Louie for their families and still have plenty for us-as it was a double batch.

The last week or so we've:

  •  continued to work on school,
  • started vegetable and flower seeds in flats,
  • I finished my 2020 Continuing Medical Education hours [I messed up last year's requirement but due to a year of grace secondary to Covid I completed the hours without penalty],
  • work continues on the second pond,
  • worked on downstairs garage area,
  • watered trees
  • and more.....

Agape Houses in background
Last Sunday as we walked to the Agape house for worship with the kids we admired the improvements to the road accomplished by a government crew.

The bosses come from other locations but most of the workers are local.

In addition to the road they are working on cleaning up Fort Dwet and plan use cement to seal the old fort water cisterns.

They need to wait for a water truck to bring water for the cement work-as we're in dry season and the only other way to get water up here is to collect rain water.

Speculation is that the water will then be used for local livestock but time will tell.

Last weekend our family members were all staying at 'home' for different reasons: Anna quarantined at the Prince Conference Center due to a Covid-19 exposure, Eli and my folks due to icy winter roads, and we were sheltering at home due to political protests.

Not that we were planning to go anywhere until later in the month, but due to possible violence even that travel, an agriculture conference on LaGonave, is postponed.

Port-au-Prince remained eerily calm by all reports, a friend said it was like Haiti was holding her breath.

Nothing much happened last weekend or this past week but the guys tell us that this next week protests are being called for daily, and the start of the week is Carnaval.

We never plan to travel on Carnaval due to potential problems.

So we will stay at home. Eli made it to work this past week without trouble and Anna testing negative and finishing up her time-moved back into her apartment on Wed.

We remain thankful for reliable internet so we can keep up with the news, and stay in contact with family and friends.
Road work. Ditch for water control
