Peach Palm

One of several CATIE peach palm collections.

Spineless peach palm at CATIE loaded with fruit. I had read that the thornless varieties in the Caribbean and Hawaii don't produce much fruit. Saw thornless palms throughout Costa Rica with good fruit production. Most of the palms are spiney.

At supermarket.
Thornless palm with low fruit.

22 pound bunch from Turrialba farmers market. Heavier than it looks!

Turrialba farmer's market: mango, avocado, peach palm, nance, tamarillo, passionfruit, cheese.

Note marker near top of photo for size.

Fascinating tour - hope Cory gets to grow some of these with all the seeds he collected.
