We started out both Eli and Anna in Haitian pre-schools and 'after schooled' them at home. During the early years I could fit in both a day of home school after they returned home for lunch and I returned from the hospital.
Then things became harder with longer days both at hospital and school work. Because of various complications our kids schooled only at home. School became a battle ground and not fun for any of us. Yes learning occurred but at a big price. I still cringe when I think of how those years brought out some of the worst in all three of us.
Some improvement the last year on LaGonave when Mrs. Furbur took over the main teaching job and I helped with homework.
Then the year of International school. Yes they learned but at the end of the year the cons out weighted the pros, so a return to homeschooling.
START: Striving To Achieve Remarkable Things. Our school a place of learning together how to 'do everything without complaining or arguing' so we can 'shine like stars in the universe' Phil 2:14-15. Each of us remains in the learning stage so do not get the idea that no complaining or arguing happens in our house but we continue to strive toward our goals.
This year we started in January with Sonlight Cores 4 and 100 Anna primarily focusing on 5th grade work and Eli on 9th. In June prior to Todd's team we paused the school year for summer learning [trip to the USA so no formal school work]. School restarted last week Monday.
Sometime in November, Lord willing we will advance to our next 'year'. My children challenge me daily with their questions, curiosity, and opinions. I treasure this time together as I know that our time together draws shorter.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Lord will use these interesting young people to advance the Kingdom. I'm blessed to play a large role in their up bringing and am thankful for those of you who participated through the years through prayer.
Pictures not loading-likely do to the near by storm so I'll try again tomorrow. Sorry.
