7 Sept. 09 Happy Labor Day to the USA

Well I hadn't told the kids that it was a USA holiday. I had planned on telling them after we had completed the day of school....but Kathleen mentioned it during school.

Even so, so far school has gone well. They are working on lesson 52. Eli has just started the war for American Independence and Anna is still enjoying the years of Knights and castles. Their school aged cousins start school tomorrow.

We had a wild thunderstorm last night. In less than 3 hours we received 5.25 inches of rain. So the lawn is green again and the air has a fresh washed smell to it.

Chris and I saw 7 patients in clinic while Kathleen helped with school. One was a return visit and the rest were first timers. Two ear aches, several fevers, one 66 year old lady with asthma and one OB check. Age range 5-66. Labs were late because of generator problems. Went down shortly after 2 p.m. to find part of my labs were done. Everyone seen again, given results and prescriptions by 3:20. Looks like it could rain so hope they all make it home OK.

Cory worked on book work today and is working with the campus generator. He used rainwater in a few of the clinic batteries which are needed to start [I think] the generator. We have had some hours of government power in the last few days for which we are grateful.

I had some pictures to download but can't find the camera cord----want to get this posted for those who check daily. The storm may get close enough that I have to unplug everything soon. So some flower photos from last week.
