24 Jan. 09

Cloudy and cool, a good cleaning day. We have had over 4 inches of rain in the last 3 days.

Not a good day for meetings. Here is the picture I just took 30 minutes after Cory's agricultural meeting was to have started. Now granted meetings mostly start after the given start time-we are in the islands after all. But with the rain doubtful he will have a meeting-so will reschedule.

Cory was also to have a meeting at 2 this afternoon with the youth of Port Margot. If the sun shines he may be able to have that meeting.

We continue to wait for government power to be restored to the Port Margot area. With days of rain our solar panels cannot charge the batteries that provide our electric. We are very thankful for a backup generator that just arrived this week. This will enable the team to use the power tools while laundry or water is being pumped with the first generator. Will call them Thing One and Thing Two. Plan on more photos of them in use and thank you notes will be on their way.

We also had some solar panels donated from the States-this will help provide more power on sunny days for our house, the House of Hope and a third small house on the compound. You will notice in the first picture John Pierre has jugs of gasoline in his hands-for a generator.

Gas can be hard to come by as they are cracking down on those who sell small quantities of gasoline. To purchase gas from most pumps you need a letter from a mayor. Cory was fortunate this week to find a location to buy some gas without a letter. This is to cut down on the big price markup that occurs when selling small amounts of gas.

Here is our newest passion fruit vine climbing the barbwire in the front of the house. It is over 6 foot tall.

I remember attending a meeting on how to have a more productive meeting. LOL
The rain is good, right?
I'm not sure on the formula; Two units of soil, One unit of sun, Two units of rain, Ten units of prayer?
;-)

I remeber hearing that for a more productive meeting you don't let people sit down. Ha. Keep up the 10 units of prayer-we have had enough rain for a while. Over 8 inches in the last 4 days. Praying for you. Thanks for support.
