Pray for the people of LaGonave

Ti Met in red shirt.
When we crossed the 12-13 miles of sea to LaGonave, we chartered the mission sailboat the Wesleyana.

We've known the captain, Ti Met, for over twenty years.

He came and shared some of the struggles in his life on our last trip.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday a speedboat left the mainland crowded with people heading to LaGonave.

More people traveled that day and during the weekend as tomorrow is the holiday Flag Day, celebrated with parades and festivities.

One report we read said that the motors were turned off to get a rope untangled.

On restarting the motors the boat jerked violently throwing everyone into the sea, as it capsized.

About 20 names were on the official manifest but many on board report more people than that making the trip.

Many folks were sitting on their life preservers even though most Haitians cannot swim.

Dayday and Wesley
The sea was rough and it grew dark before searchers could arrive to help, the coastguard, and 2 aircraft searched for survivors on Sunday.

We heard that five survivors showed up on a hospital on the mainland and eight to the LaGonave Wesleyan hospital.

 Ti Met's sister was killed.

Please pray for Ti Met and his family.

Please pray for the families and friends who lost loved ones.

Many folks on LaGonave know each other so there is great mourning.

Please pray for people to turn to the Lord.

Please pray for Haiti as protests are called for in Port-au-Prince tomorrow against: constitutional referendum that is set to come to a vote in June and kidnapping. The photos are of dear friends on LaGonave.
