Changing seasons

In the tropics the passing of seasons does not come as abruptly as it can in other parts of the world.

No waking up one day to a blanket of snow or to the spring sounds of dripping water.

The daily noises of cattle or horses accompanying their leisurely search for food as they freely meander the mountain sides reminds us that the harvest is done.

The days between rains stretch longer prompting thoughts of the need to start to practice water conservation again due to the dry season's approach.

Another good-bye to friends leaving to live in the USA marks the passing of time.

Facebook posts boast pictures of both beautiful fall foliage and sparkling lawns covered by the first snow of the season.

Here planting is winding down but I don't think there is ever a season or day that Cory can't find something to plant.

The packing pile grows bit by bit, as the count down continues toward family time, holidays, vacation, rest, and connecting with folks in the US.

The count jumped forward this week when the cancelation of our first flight out of Haiti caused an adjustment of plans, cutting 4 days off the count.

The guys put in a couple days on the Reclaim terrace and weeding.

I continue to weed as well.

Last week's big non-agricultural project saw us spend a couple days putting the final cement coat on the rock wall.

Cory and I used small paint tools to carefully smooth out grey cement around each rock.

We also celebrated Fritzlin's entry into his second decade of life!
