Haiti Earthquake update

Kris was able to get a ride with a small group of missionaries going to Port au Prince this morning. The phones haven't been working and we still can't call out but I received a call from her about 6:30 and she reported that the trip went fine. There wasn't any real damage they could see until Archai, which is about 30 or 40 miles west of Port au Prince and damage was spotty there. Lots of buildings down in Port, they saw injured people moving in the rubble not very far from the presidential palace. There are still a lot of tremors. We also felt a few here last night and today but the ones today were barely noticeable.
They are based for now at the OMS guesthouse and plan to work at a nearby clinic tomorrow. One of the group members, Luke Renner, will be doing some filming tomorrow. I'll watch for anything they put on-line to pass on.

Our trip to Limbe to meet the ride showed things were still normal around here. Its been raining for several days. Jean Pierre went to Cap Haitian yesterday and reported that Cap has flooding due to plugged drains (trash) so he couldn't get to the stores he needed to buy supplies for the clinic and had to wait a long time for transport.
After Kris was on her way I bought some gas for the generators and a little food in Limbe, no lines yet for gas and traffic is thin with all the rain making travel more difficult in this area. Port hasn't had rain but it was starting when Kris called so we can pray that holds off too.

This afternoon Chris Sloan helped me with the video projector to show some photos and video from the internet of the damage in Port. We are getting most of our news from the internet. The electric utility has been off since yesterday evening so no one in our area has seen any photos or TV of the damage. Most have been listining to the radio or getting news from friends. One street in Limbe had a group of people out in the rain big enough to block the street, aparently someone with a generator had a TV on. When I drove in to our mission just before noon I told one of the church members that was at the gate that I may be able to show some photos of the damage later. News of that spread word of mouth and we had a church full of people by 3pm. After the short news meeting Pastor Jonas led in prayer and reciting a fairly long Psalm which was in French so I'm not sure of the reference but a lot of people recited it from memory. We really don't know how long we have on Earth and need to live each day doing our best for God. I shared that as part of the introduction to the video. Keep praying.
I read in an email that a group of Drs. Without Borders went to Port, were mobbed and all their supplies stolen.

Our church received a special offering last evening for Haiti. Is there a way we can get it to you directly?
