Sep. 24th Busy clinic ends in healthy newborn.

Day two as the solo doctor at Fauche clinic, hospital and ER.

We started a bit earlier than our normal 9 am clinic time because we knew there was a lady admitted. A few clinic folks were already waiting when we arrived but we saw the hospitalised patient first.

She is on her 2 hospital day after a GI hemorrhage. She was sitting up and talking so don't think she lost as much blood as her chart claims she did. For some unknown reason her lab testing didn't get done yesterday so hopefully today. We also started switching her from IV medications to oral.

Saw 14 clinic patients in the morning and sent 9 to the lab. Most with fevers and cough. One teenager after a miscarriage on Sunday, and a repeat patient who still wasn't doing well.

Anna came down for the first couple hours and works in the empty exam room. We help her between patients. This gives Eli and Kathleen some time for grammar and writing. She heads back up home about 10 a.m.

We have started giving away Moringa trees to those who want them. Glad that Moringa is a good source of Iron as almost every single patient today left with iron for anemia. When we went back down to go over labs and write out prescriptions we heard a lady in labor.

Chris is now learning to write out my scrips and lab slips. I think I could get used to having a secretary. Speeds things up!

I interrupted clinic a couple times to give her pep-talks about positive thinking and deep breathing being better than yelling. After clinic she was ready to push so we stayed on for the birth. Three of four visiting nursing students were there so between coaching I did a bit of teaching.

Soon we had a healthy looking baby boy and a thankful mom. I was able to get in a nice cool shower before the thunder storms got to close and Chris made it back for Creole lessons.

Anna and Eli did O.K. in school-thanks Kathleen. And Cory got more garden work done.

No problem--thanks for the chance to work with them!! They're so neat. Even though I haven't gotten them to love spelling yet...haha who can blame them. Thanks for letting my husband witness a birth!
