Aug. 28th

I'm longing a bit for fall. It is 95 degrees in the house right now at 3 p.m. Thankfully we have had some government power both last night and today so I can put my fan on without guilt of using up battery power. Had a bit of rain on Monday night but remain dry.

Cory made it back from his trip to Port-au-Prince yesterday. Unfortunately the trees he was hoping to pick up at the Wesleyan boat dock [date palms from LaGonave] did not arrive as the boat didn't come across. But he was able to complete the truck's paperwork, had a mechanic check it out, did some grocery and supply shopping. He also supplied rides for a family who's 14 year old son is having dialysis in Port for kidney failure.

Cory picked up some of our mail that had made it to LaGonave since mid-December. So enjoyed a few Christmas cards. The pictures of snow didn't make it feel much cooler though. Baby bananas are transitioning well.

We just completed our first quarter of the school year and started week ten of our Sonlight curriculum. We are enjoying school. Kathleen has taken over spelling much to my relief and keeps the kids on track when I go to clinic. Eli learned this week the value of having 2 back-ups when he inadvertently deleted his source page off his research paper on the Arctic and had to redo it. Anna's corn and beans grew at twice the normal rate and with Dad being gone she had to restart her seeds [the first batch didn't get planted in time and dried out]

Chris and Kathleen have been with us a week and have started Creole classes. Our kids and the local ones are enjoying playing games and ball in the afternoons.

Thank you for your support. Have a great weekend.
