DISEASE RESISTANT BANANAS-800 Parent Plants to share
We will be sharing these plants with the church
members during the summer conferences and
showing how to rapidly multiply the plants.
Resource for trees, plants and help
Up in the North we are in an
area that is ideal for growing
many types of trees and
plants. Why is it important to
improve agricultural resources in
Haiti?
It is said that Haiti contains 28%
arable land and less than 12% is
occupied by permanent crops.
66% of the labor force is
agricultural, mostly small-scale
subsistence farming. More than 2/3
of the labor force don’t have formal
jobs. Close to 75% of the total
population of Haiti lives below the
poverty line with over 90% relying
on outdoor markets for their food
supply. Between 50-75% of Haiti’s
food supply is imported.
Children who are raised without
enough food will not have the
chance to grow and develop to
their full potential. Even if they are
fortunate enough to have a
sponsor to go to school-who
can learn on an empty
stomach?
