29 July Cleaning, plumbing and school

Eli, Anna and I have been busy with school. We are also working on cleaning and organizing the house. While I know that the new couple will soon find out that we're not always 100% neat and organized-at least we can start out with a good impression.

This is not the fault of my heritage-Grandma tried and mom did try but I think it is just one of those things. In my defense it is very hard to try to keep a house with open screen windows clean. My house is mostly clean and neat. But piles of books like to grow here and there.

Certain spots collect small objects. Maybe extra magnetic pull? Anyway first time guests are a good reason [along with being away for a couple months] to clean house.

Cory has continued working on the plumbing of the Dearest House. He thinks that the original builders thought that their plumbing would last forever..as they cemented in all the pipes. As the drains in the bathroom weren't draining he had to break out the pipes from their cement prisons.

We continue to wait to hear of a arrival date for Chris and Kathleen-looks like Aug. 11. Cory is planning on meeting the MFI flight on the 4th-lots of important items should be arriving like the refrigerator and plumbing parts.

I always tell my family there's nothing like company to get you motivated to clean - and clean well! BTW, have you heard of missionary Gertrude Fulk who used to serve in Haiti?

Yes, our family knows Gertrude. She lived on LaGonave the same time my family did when I was a kid. I just talked with a Haitian lady last week who speaks to her on the phone regularly. I know that Gertrude stays in close contact with some of the folks here and prays for us. She is now living in Northern Indiana.

Gertrude is one special lady. I have visited her in Indiana a few times. She shared her testimony and life story with my kids a few years ago and they still remember all of it!
