27 July Cory's new favorite tool.

OK anyone care to guess what Cory's new favorite tool is? He has used it this week in plumbing and cooking.

Cory continues to fight with the plumbing of the Dearest house. First he had to remove the old metal pipes that are no longer functional. He has gone twice to Port Margo for PVC parts but nothing is fitting. The drain has to be dug up as well. Not his favorite job.

I scrubbed the doors of the Dearest house on Saturday as they had been used for chalk boards in the past. I also washed down som
e of the window sills. A broom to the rough outside walls really raised the dust. Decided it was best to clean the outside before cleaning in the inside.

Still waiting on final verification that the Sloan's have tickets for Aug. 4th.

On Sunday we knew when one of the men came asking for extra chairs that church was full. So we walked down at 9:30 carrying our 6 outside plastic chairs. The two extra were grat
efully accepted while we placed ours under a nearby Mahogany tree. They had borrowed a loud speaker system so we could hear just fine.

As the sun moved across the sky we were obligated to shift our cha
ir position several times in a vain attempt to stay in the shade. We all ended up a bit rosy. During church they announced that there were to be three weddings in the afternoon. These three couples were going to have church weddings-changing their common law marriages. Interesting note-this change will allow the couples to participate in special music in the church.

Following church while we were still greeting people we were pulled aside and asked if we could lend some cake pans for the wedding cakes. We offered to bake some of the cakes if they needed our stove. Come to find out the other stove that they had intended to use was already being used for another project and so Cory baked 11 multiple size cakes.

When the lady came to pick up the cakes she wasn't convinced that they had finished baking because they were pale on top. Cory tried to tell her that to put her back in the oven would over do the bottom but she was insistent that the tops needed to be brown. Cory decided that the best way to fix this problem was to get out the handy dandy blow torch that he purchased at our friend's moving sale in December.

This same blow torch he had used to get the old pipes out of the Dearest house.

I ended up being asked to take some photographs of the happy couples. I don't remember seeing wedding cake baker or wedding photographer in our job description but we can now add them to our resumes.

We're the deleted post...we were having trouble getting our password right! You guys never have a dull moment do you?! Cory, I'm passing on my cake pans to you. Grandma would be proud...very resourceful. Good thing you watched those cooking channels while you were home!
